Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) – Executive Leadership

About the role

Sharon AI, Australia’s sovereign AI cloud infrastructure provider, is seeking a Chief Accounting Officer to lead its global accounting function. Reporting to the CFO, the CAO will shape financial governance, reporting and accounting infrastructure to support rapid growth across domestic and international entities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the global accounting team, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting for all entities.
• Own the technical accounting framework, including US GAAP, AASB and IFRS compliance, group consolidations, foreign currency accounting, transfer pricing and intercompany accounting.
• Prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and ensure statutory, tax and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Establish and maintain robust financial controls, governance frameworks and risk‑management practices.
• Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisers and regulatory authorities.
• Partner with the CFO and executive team on capital raising, corporate transactions, international expansion and due‑diligence activities.
• Oversee treasury accounting, balance‑sheet integrity, working‑capital reporting and financial risk controls.
• Drive finance transformation through ERP implementations, accounting‑system enhancements and automation initiatives.
• Build, mentor and develop a high‑performing accounting team.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in accounting leadership within high‑growth technology or similar sectors.
• Proven ability to design and scale global accounting functions.
• Strong track record of working with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial governance, controls and risk management.
