Chapter Lead - AI, Home Buying

About the role

CommBank is looking for a Chapter Lead, AI, Home Buying to lead a team within the Pricing Modelling squad. The role supports the development and management of AI and machine learning for retail home loan customers, working closely with the Pricing and Credit Risk Portfolio teams, Finance and Group to deliver accurate modelling aligned with the business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and guide junior data scientists to deliver projects and outcomes, while also making hands-on contributions to drive innovation.
• Present modelling solutions to senior business and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop models using data science and machine learning techniques in Python or R to solve key business problems.
• Collaborate with Pricing Strategy and Credit Risk Strategy to deliver implementable modelling and AI solutions that improve customer experience, growth and productivity.
• Work with the wider Data Science community to build a centre of excellence.
• Manage key modelling assets and continuously improve the use of data through process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Science leader with strong statistical and machine learning knowledge, able to work in both theoretical and practical analysis.
• Experience in pricing modelling and/or credit risk modelling.
• Relevant tertiary qualification such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Science or Engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate and influence senior cross-functional stakeholders.

Required skills

• Python or R for model development.
• Advanced technical skills with tools such as Spark and Teradata SQL.
• Understanding of cloud-based data science tools such as AWS SageMaker and AWS Bedrock.
