Category/Brand Controller

About the role

The Category/Brand Controller acts as a strategic finance partner for the Category, Sales and Marketing teams, turning financial data into actionable insights that drive growth and profitability across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Category, Marketing and Sales to support strategic and operational decisions.
• Provide financial insights, challenge assumptions and support brand strategies, innovation pipelines and product launches.
• Evaluate business opportunities and recommend actions to maximise profitability and sustainable growth.
• Analyse portfolio and SKU profitability, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning activities, and support P&L planning across categories and product portfolios.
• Deliver performance analysis, including variance, cost‑benefit and ROI assessments.
• Prepare and communicate financial reports, scorecards and dashboards.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and adherence to internal control requirements.
• Maintain financial and master data integrity, manage costing, transfer pricing and product profitability processes.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in Finance, Commercial Finance, Controlling or FP&A, preferably in FMCG or a fast‑paced consumer goods environment.
• Proven experience partnering with Sales, Marketing or Commercial teams in a complex business.
• Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting.
• Commercial acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders and challenge constructively.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office skills.
• Experience with SAP.
• Experience with financial planning systems such as Oracle.
• Experience with Hyperion or similar performance management tools.
