Category Manager - Pumps & Seals Asia Pacific

About the role

Motion, an industrial products distributor serving manufacturing, mining, food and beverage, transport, utilities and other sectors, is seeking an experienced Category Manager for its Pumps & Seals portfolio across Asia Pacific. Reporting to the General Manager Fluid Power Products Asia Pacific, the role leads strategy, supplier partnerships, pricing, product development and commercial performance across Australia, New Zealand and the wider region. It combines category leadership, supplier management, technical expertise and commercial execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the APAC Pumps & Seals category strategy to drive sales, profitability and market share.
• Manage product range, pricing, promotions, margin performance and Motion Own Brand (PBL) growth.
• Lead supplier negotiations, trading agreements and strategic partnerships.
• Develop regional sales plans and identify new products, technologies and market opportunities.
• Partner with sales, supply chain and marketing to improve inventory, S&OP, customer outcomes and country-level growth.
• Lead product and business development teams, building technical capability through coaching, training and field support.

Required profile

• Extensive industry experience in pumps, mechanical seals, fluid handling, rotating equipment or a related industrial sector.
• Demonstrated category or portfolio leadership, including product range, pricing, supplier performance and sales plans.
• Proven commercial results: sales growth, margin improvement, market-share gains and/or inventory improvements.
• Strong supplier-management capability, including commercial negotiations and supplier reviews.
• Influential stakeholder-management skills and people-leadership experience.
• Flexibility to travel domestically occasionally and internationally periodically for supplier meetings, planning and exhibitions.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency visa required.
