Casual Swim Teacher

About the role

The City of Busselton is looking for a casual swim teacher for its Geographe Leisure Centre Learn to Swim School. The school believes that learning to swim and being safe in all aquatic environments is an important life skill for all ages. The role reports to the Leisure Centres Team Leader, Swim School, and is paid $38.63-$41.20 per hour with a generous superannuation scheme up to 15.75%. Casual hours can fit around study or other commitments, with shifts varying from morning and/or 9:00am-12:00pm and 3:30pm-6:00pm.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Learn to Swim programs and supervise patrons in the aquatic areas of the centre while ensuring their safety.
• Provide appropriate levels of swimming instruction and prepare lesson plans before each lesson.
• Maintain attendance records and help with student and parent issues.
• Promote the Learn to Swim programs internally and externally and assist with related administration.
• Set up and pack down equipment, maintain client and staff safety, and assist with emergencies and incident reporting.
• Complete ongoing training and development and comply with City policies, WHS obligations and the Customer Service Charter.

Required profile

• Austswim teachers accreditation or an industry equivalent, or a current AUSTSWIM, RLSSWA or Swim Australia qualification.
• Current CPR certificate and a current Working with Children Check.
• Proof of right to work in Australia.
• Confident in the water and comfortable communicating with people of all ages; fun, friendly and positive.
