Casual Dental Assistant

About the role

Maven Dental Hervey Bay, a well-established practice in the Urraween Road Medical Centre, offers general and restorative dentistry to patients across Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast. It is looking for a casual Dental Assistant to support its dentists chairside, working with the Practice Manager and front office team. Shifts are offered as they come up, mostly to cover leave and busy periods, and vary from week to week.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance across general, restorative and preventive treatments
• Assist with extractions and other surgical procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilise instruments in line with infection control standards
• Keep anxious patients comfortable and informed
• Maintain accurate clinical notes and chart in the practice management software
• Help with stock control and ordering for the surgery

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Dental Assistant and/or a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or higher)
• Knowledge of infection control and sterilisation protocols
• A calm, reassuring manner with nervous patients and clear, professional communication
• Willingness to share experience and support newer team members

Required skills

• Confidence using dental practice management software (desirable)
