Casual Cook - Aged Care

About the role

Calvary Aged Care is looking for a casual Cook to join its team in Brighton-Le-Sands, NSW. You will prepare and cook high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for residents, working closely with the kitchen team so that meals meet residents' dietary needs and preferences while meeting food safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the head chef in planning, preparing and cooking meals for residents, taking account of their dietary requirements and preferences
• Work with the kitchen team to create nutritious and appealing menus
• Make sure meals are prepared and served on time
• Keep the kitchen clean and organised, following food safety and hygiene protocols

Required profile

• TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards)
• Experience in bulk cooking and food preparation
• Ability to plan menus to standards such as the Food Act and Occupational Health and Safety
• Ability to order food to meet the menu cycle and stay within budget
• Understanding of infection control and safety principles
• Completion of HLTFSE001 (Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain it

• Safe operation of kitchen equipment such as stoves and ovens
• Menu planning and food ordering within budget
