Casual and Part-Time Registered Nurse - Medical Oncology

About the role

Icon Cancer Centre Australia is recruiting two Registered Nurses for its Medical Oncology and Haematology Day Hospital at Icon Cancer Centre Wesley, Brisbane. One is a casual role and the other is a part-time position (60 hours per fortnight) on a 9-month maximum-term contract covering an upcoming period of parental leave. Both roles report to the Nurse Manager and involve delivering personalised cancer care to patients and their families in a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert oncology nursing care aligned with current legislation and professional standards
• Administer medications and IV infusions
• Conduct patient assessments and manage treatment-related side effects
• Insert and maintain peripheral and central access devices
• Assist with procedures and give pre- and post-procedure education
• Maintain accurate written and electronic patient records
• Offer emotional support to patients, families and carers

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration
• Experience in Day Oncology (highly regarded)
• Transferable skills such as immunocompromised patient care, symptom management or high-dependency nursing are welcomed
• Commitment to exceptional patient care, strong communication and teamwork skills
• Confidence working in high-acuity settings

Required skills

• IV cannulation and knowledge of chemotherapy and supportive therapies (preferred but not essential)
• Medication administration and IV infusion
