Career Medical Officer - Home Hospital (Adelaide)

About the role

Amplar Health Home Hospital is recruiting experienced career medical officers, general practitioners and other medical specialists for its My Home Hospital (MyHH) program, based in Adelaide. The work is done onsite at the Virtual Care Centre in Eastwood, South Australia, on a full-time or part-time basis (0.6 FTE or greater preferred), with flexible virtual care options and the chance to take on a Road Doctor role. The roster is 7 days rolling, with 8-hour shifts between 7am and 10pm.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, investigate, treat and manage acute conditions clinically, in line with clinical risk and compliance frameworks
• Manage acute presentations in the community, including cellulitis, community-acquired pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, VTE, complicated UTI, cardiac failure and acute post-operative care
• Provide both virtual and in-person care, including the MyHH Road Doctor role
• Review biometric data trends to help identify early deterioration
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals

Required profile

• Full unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner with at least 5 years' experience as a registrar, GP or medical specialist
• Some experience in virtual care and confidence reviewing biometric data
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism
• Current South Australian Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
• Valid South Australian driver's licence if open to the Road Doctor role
