Canteen Assistant (Part‑time, Temporary)

About the role

Lowood State School is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and reliable Canteen Assistant to support its Hot Food Program. This temporary part‑time position involves preparing nutritious, affordable meals for 100‑150 primary students each school day.

Key responsibilities

• Order ingredients and manage food supplies within a $2.00 per meal budget.
• Plan menus, prepare and cook daily hot meals.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.
• Monitor budgets, minimise waste and ensure cost‑effective operations.
• Collaborate with school staff to keep the program running smoothly.

• Experience in food preparation, catering or commercial kitchen environments.
• Ability to work within a set budget and follow strict hygiene protocols.
