Business Development Director - Australia

About the role

Network Rail Consulting (NRC), the international consultancy arm of Network Rail, is seeking an accomplished senior leader as Business Development Director for the Australian region. Based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, you will shape and deliver NRC's growth strategy and strengthen its position across the rail sector, building executive-level client partnerships and pursuing high-value opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead NRC's business development strategy across core service areas: Rail Operations, Asset Management & Maintenance, Systems Engineering & Integration, Project & Program Management and Advisory & Strategic Planning.
• Drive business development from early positioning through to contract award, and provide strategic oversight to the leadership team and seller community.
• Identify high-value opportunities in current and new markets and develop key C-suite relationships to maximise win rate.
• Partner with the Regional Director on the Australian business, including the annual marketing and communications strategy and strategic bids aligned with the 2030 Strategic Business Plan.
• Represent NRC at industry forums, conferences and events, and lead and win major strategic bids.
• Mentor and develop senior leaders, and act as Project Director on critical consultancy engagements, ensuring delivery and billability targets.

Required profile

• Extensive business development leadership experience in professional services or consulting.
• Deep knowledge of the Australian rail market and a strong network of C-suite relationships.
• Proven track record of winning multi-million-dollar bids and achieving growth targets.
• Desirable: first degree, MBA or equivalent, professional certifications in sales, marketing or project management, and active membership in industry or professional bodies.
