Bulk Material Handling Operator – Entry Level

About the role

Ventia is seeking entry‑level Bulk Material Handling Operators to support the BHP smelter at Olympic Dam. You will operate Moxie dump trucks, water carts and fuel trucks, working 12‑hour shifts on a 2‑weeks‑on, 1‑week‑off roster. On‑the‑job training is provided for a range of heavy‑equipment types.

Key responsibilities

• Operate dump trucks, water carts and fuel trucks to move slag, sand, water and fuel.
• Load, unload, relocate and distribute bulk materials safely and efficiently.
• Follow all site safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Receive training on additional equipment such as slag haulers, excavators, loaders, mobile crushers, track screens and integrated tool carriers.

Required profile

• Valid HR (or higher) driver’s licence.
• Entry‑level experience operating excavators; a current excavator ticket is highly regarded.
• Strong communication, proactive and safety‑focused attitude.
• Willingness to undergo a medical examination, drug/alcohol testing and obtain a clear police check.
