Boilermaker - Workshop

About the role

A mining equipment manufacturer supplying components to customers across WA and internationally is hiring a Boilermaker for a permanent, full-time, residential workshop position in Kalgoorlie. You will work in the production and fabrication team, making and welding components to engineering specifications. The role suits a hands-on tradesperson who can read engineering drawings and works well in a team; training in robotic welding is available.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, job cards and production specifications
• Measure, mark, cut and prepare materials for fabrication
• Complete fit-up, assembly and welding to specification, keeping dimensional accuracy, alignment, tolerances and weld quality high
• Operate workshop equipment and machinery used in fabrication
• Follow health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and risk controls
• Complete production documentation, quality checks and traceability records
• Work with production and fabrication teams to meet schedules, keep the work area clean and safe, and attend toolbox meetings and continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Recognised Boilermaker trade qualification
• Demonstrated hands-on welding experience, ideally in a production or heavy engineering workshop
• Ability to read engineering drawings, weld symbols and job specifications
• Competent measuring, marking, cutting, fit-up, assembly and welding skills
• Attention to detail, team player, proactive problem solver, reliable and with current Australian working rights
• Based in Kalgoorlie or willing to relocate; not suitable for Working Holiday visa holders

Required skills

• Welding, with experience in robotic welding systems, tubular components or drill rod manufacturing highly regarded
• Operating rod lathes, machining and finishing, and documented quality systems also highly regarded

• Pay of $65-$75 per hour depending on experience, plus superannuation and penalties on overtime
• Permanent, full-time employment from day one, residential in Kalgoorlie with no FIFO roster
