Boilermaker / Welder

About the role

A family-owned Australian manufacturer operating since 1962, based in Notting Hill, is hiring a full-time boilermaker / welder. The client designs and builds machinery and equipment for the mining, clay and brick and general industrial sectors, and its tradespeople work closely with project engineers. The role covers fabricating, welding and assembling machinery and process equipment across mining, process and industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld structural and non-structural components in carbon and stainless steel
• Produce mining spares, wear components, pipework and material handling framework
• Complete new equipment builds from cutting and preparation to final assembly
• Refurbish, repair and maintain existing machinery and industrial plant
• Read engineering drawings and spot fit-up issues or errors before fabrication
• Work with tradespeople and engineers during assembly and testing
• Occasionally travel to Victoria and interstate for site installation, servicing and fault-finding
• Support apprentices and less experienced team members in the workshop

Required profile

• Australian-recognised Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent
• Proven hands-on MIG and stick welding capability
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and required finishes
• Strong understanding of safe work practices and OH&S requirements
• Attention to detail, proactive about raising technical issues, and able to work in a small team

Required skills

• MIG and stick welding
• TIG welding, LF forklift, DG dogging, overhead crane and welding qualifications to AS/NZS 1554 or AS 1796 highly regarded
• Mining, minerals processing, brick or heavy industrial experience advantageous
