Behaviour Support Practitioner (NDIS)

About the role

Ability Action Australia, one of the largest NDIS providers in Australia, is recruiting a Behaviour Support Practitioner for its Adelaide team. The team includes Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, and the role involves person-centred Positive Behaviour Support services with a diverse caseload across Adelaide.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct functional behavioural assessments and develop person-centred behaviour support plans
• Deliver evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support services to NDIS participants and their support networks
• Develop, implement and review behaviour support plans in complex support environments
• Work collaboratively to reduce and eliminate restrictive practices in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission framework
• Set meaningful goals and develop strategies that build participant capacity and independence
• Support families, carers and support teams to implement behaviour support strategies
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and other stakeholders
• Mentor and support junior Behaviour Support Practitioners where appropriate

Required profile

• Qualifications in an allied health discipline (desirable)
• Experience delivering Positive Behaviour Support services within the NDIS environment
• Passion for improving outcomes for people with disability and enjoyment of collaborative teamwork
• Proactive approach to learning and growth, and a commitment to person-centred practice

Required skills

• Strong report writing, assessment and documentation skills
• Time management and organisational abilities
• Ability to manage a varied caseload while maintaining high-quality outcomes
