Back-End Java Developer

About the role

As a Back-End Java Developer reporting to the Sr. Director of Software Engineering, you will help build and deliver a next‑generation trade surveillance platform that supports exchanges, regulators and market participants worldwide. The role demands resilience, a solutions‑oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise back‑end Java services for a high‑volume trade surveillance system.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable software across multiple asset classes and data sources.
• Implement continuous integration practices and maintain performance standards using profiling and monitoring tools.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from architecture to testing and deployment.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, resolve issues efficiently and deliver innovative solutions that evolve with product needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience with a focus on back‑end Java.
• Strong understanding of core Java fundamentals, data structures, algorithms and networking protocols.
• Experience working in capital markets, fintech or other regulated industries is a plus.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency with full working rights.
