Automotive Electrical Apprenticeship

About the role

Golden West Apprenticeships offers a full-time Automotive Electrical Apprenticeship in Toowoomba lasting 48 months. It combines on-the-job experience with an employer and training with a registered training organisation, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, identify faults and repair electrical wiring and computer-based equipment in motor vehicles and related equipment such as caravans, trailers, earthmoving, mining, marine and agricultural equipment.
• Work mainly in auto service centres and garages, including general mechanic and repair shops, car dealerships and specialty shops.
• Use test equipment to locate electrical and electronic malfunctions.
• Dismantle and remove electrical and electronic assemblies and components.
• Install electrical equipment and electronic components in motor vehicles.
• Connect power-operated vehicle equipment and accessories to the power supply.
• Adjust engine control systems and timing.

• Willingness to develop skills and knowledge.
• Ability to listen, follow instructions and ask for help when needed.
• Punctuality, interest in the work and adherence to workplace policies and procedures.
• Ability to act responsibly and safely at work.
• Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and the apprenticeship team.
• Ability to complete timesheets correctly and on time.
• Driver's licence.
• Desirable: work experience in the chosen industry.

Training requirements

• Abide by the terms and conditions of the Training Contract.
• Complete Golden West Apprenticeships inductions.
• Commit to and complete the Training Plan within the allocated timeframe, passing theory assessments and demonstrating skills through competency-based assessments.
• Comply with registration requirements, including the Further Education and Training Act and the Work Health and Safety Act.
