Automation Engineer – Material Handling Systems

About the role

Amazon Logistics is expanding its last‑mile operation in Australia and is looking for a hands‑on Automation Engineer to develop and improve control systems for material handling equipment. The role is based in Sydney or Melbourne and involves regular collaboration with teams in Japan, Europe and worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, test and troubleshoot control systems for new material handling equipment under senior engineer guidance.
• Analyze, maintain and improve existing mechanical control systems.
• Evaluate and integrate new automation solutions to meet safety, productivity, quality and cost targets.
• Conduct data analysis when issues arise and provide post‑implementation support.
• Partner with domestic and international teams to standardise processes and share best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as an industrial, operations, manufacturing or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 2 years of PLC programming experience.
• Minimum 2 years of PLC/SCADA integration experience.
