Associate Wayside & Onboard Service Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Associate Wayside & Onboard Service Engineer to join its Perth team. The role offers a blend of administrative, technical and strategic tasks within a fast‑paced rail signalling environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, system monitoring and technical support for wayside and onboard rail systems.
• Support Help Desk activities, download and analyse system logs, diagnostics and dump files remotely.
• Troubleshoot entry‑level network and system faults and perform routine health checks on operational and project‑related systems.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, drawings and records for laboratory and operational systems.
• Participate in on‑call roster, occasional site attendance and team meetings, workshops and training sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering or a related discipline.
• 0‑2 years of experience in system maintenance, technical support, testing, commissioning or related engineering activities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to work independently, collaboratively and participate in on‑call support.
