Associate Structural Engineer

About the role

An established engineering consultancy with a strong reputation in the Victorian buildings market is looking for an Associate Structural Engineer to play a key role in technical leadership, project delivery and team development. Working closely with the Directors, the role suits an experienced structural engineer who is hands-on technically, takes ownership of project outcomes, mentors staff and contributes to the business's growth. The consultancy covers public and private sector projects such as commercial, residential, education, institutional and industrial developments, from smaller works to major projects over $60 million.

Key responsibilities

• Technical management of structural engineering projects
• Oversight and coordination of design and documentation
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers and modellers
• Supporting Directors with project strategy and design solutions
• Managing project budgets, deliverables and timeframes
• Reviewing and signing off project documentation
• Liaising with clients, architects, builders and project stakeholders
• Undertaking site inspections, investigations and construction-phase support

Required profile

• Recognised degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• PE(Vic) registration
• Approximately 8+ years' experience in a consulting engineering environment
• Experience designing and analysing medium to large-scale building projects
• Proven ability to mentor and guide engineering staff
• Strong commercial awareness and project delivery capability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC requirements and relevant design codes
• Design and analysis of medium to large-scale building projects
