Associate Software Engineer

About the role

The Associate Software Engineer will join the Content Moderation Platform squad, building tools that help REA keep its community safe. Working in an agile, cross‑functional team, you will contribute to the full software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain software features, enhancements and bug fixes using approved languages and frameworks.
• Write clean, maintainable code and create automated unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests to support CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in peer code reviews, monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues and ensure security and compliance standards are met.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field.
• Minimum 12 months of software development experience.
• Experience working in Agile/Kanban teams and delivering full‑stack solutions.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one language such as Scala, Kotlin or Java.
• Foundational full‑stack development knowledge (front‑end, back‑end, data‑driven systems).
• Understanding of version control, coding standards and automated testing.
