Associate / Senior Tax Disputes Lawyer

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate Tax Lawyer (3–7 PQE) to develop a specialisation in ATO audits, reviews and tax disputes within a top‑tier practice, working on high‑value matters for sophisticated clients.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients through ATO reviews and audits, preparing objections and submissions.
• Negotiate with the ATO and, where required, progress matters through litigation.
• Handle disputes across corporate, international, indirect tax and private client matters.
• Lead day‑to‑day file management, develop legal strategy and build strong client relationships.
• Engage directly with senior ATO decision‑makers on complex audits and disputes.

Required profile

• 3–7 years post‑qualification experience in tax controversy.
• Experience advising international corporates, private groups and ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Ability to assess evidentiary positions, anticipate ATO approaches and devise practical strategies.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to work collaboratively with corporate, property, litigation and private client teams.
