Associate Professor – Neurosymbolic AI

About the role
The School of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW seeks an Associate Professor to lead research and teaching in Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence. You will shape the strategic direction of AI research, mentor emerging scholars, and contribute to curriculum development.
Key responsibilities
- Drive high‑impact research integrating machine learning and symbolic reasoning.
- Secure competitive research funding and manage research projects.
- Supervise higher degree research students to successful completion.
- Deliver high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Participate in academic governance, strategic initiatives, and industry collaborations.
Required profile
- Established academic with a strong record of publications in Neurosymbolic AI.
- National or international reputation in the field.
- Proven ability to obtain research grants and lead research teams.
- Experience in curriculum development and effective teaching.
