Associate Director – Business & Tax Advisory

About the role

The Business & Tax Advisory team at KPMG is looking for an Associate Director to lead tax and accounting solutions for private businesses, start‑ups, family groups and listed companies. This senior position combines client ownership, strategic advisory and people leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of tax and accounting solutions across a diverse portfolio including SMEs, trusts, partnerships and international structures.
• Act as a trusted advisor, managing high‑value engagements from planning through delivery and building strong client relationships.
• Own a significant client portfolio, leading meetings, presentations and strategic discussions with senior stakeholders.
• Oversee complex compliance and advisory work, ensuring technical excellence and commercial value.
• Drive strategic advisory projects such as structuring, growth initiatives and business transformation.
• Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.
• Lead, coach and inspire a high‑performance, inclusive team.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Senior Manager or Associate Director level in a public practice accounting environment.
• Strong background in private business tax, accounting and advisory services.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client engagements and stakeholder relationships.
• Track record of leading, coaching and developing teams.
• Commercial acumen with experience in business development and growth initiatives.
• Completed CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.

• In‑depth knowledge of Australian tax laws and compliance requirements.
• Technical expertise in tax and accounting advisory.
