Assistant Vice President Portfolio Manager – Systematic Equity Beta

About the role

This position sits within State Street Investment Management’s Systematic Equity Beta team, handling day‑to‑day investment activities for indexed equity portfolios. The role offers a pathway to become a full portfolio manager, responsible for portfolio outcomes and process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage indexed equity portfolios, including daily monitoring, cash management, trade construction and execution.
• Analyze index changes, corporate actions and portfolio events to determine optimal implementation approaches.
• Perform performance attribution analysis and explain tracking results to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, operations, risk, compliance, client teams and offshore partners.
• Contribute to process automation, control enhancements and service‑level improvements.

Required profile

• Junior investment professional with strong numeracy, attention to detail and genuine interest in equity markets and indexed investing.
• Ability to think clearly under pressure, communicate reasoning behind decisions and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Degree in finance, economics or related field; 3‑7 years of relevant industry experience.
• Currently studying for or planning to take CFA exams is preferred.
