Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Sydney (Parramatta) team on a one‑year contract. The role supports the debt management function within our finance department, ensuring accurate records and timely collection of outstanding receivables.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate debt records for accuracy and completeness.
• Support debt recovery activities, including issuing reminders and following up with customers.
• Maintain and update debt‑related data and documentation.
• Track outstanding balances, monitor recovery progress and prepare aging reports.
• Identify discrepancies, escalate issues and assist in resolution.
• Monitor customer accounts for timely payments and implement collection strategies.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding invoices and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Prepare accounts receivable reports and collection metrics for management review.
• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to ensure accurate billing and strong customer relationships.

Required profile

• Accounting graduate.
• Minimum 1 year of BPO/shared‑service experience in accounts receivable and debt collection.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks effectively.

Required skills

• Familiarity with accounting software.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
