Area Manager - Out of Home Care

About the role

Safe Places for Children is looking for an Area Manager for its out-of-home care business, covering Toowoomba and Ipswich. The Area Manager leads the local contribution of operational staff to business outcomes through a high standard of care for young people, stakeholder management and professional operational leadership, delivering business-aligned results, financial sustainability and growth of the business within the area. The role is 50% Ipswich and 50% Toowoomba based, and the successful candidate must be open to travelling between the two regions.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate funding
• Lead placement management
• Lead property and asset management
• Lead risk and compliance management
• Plan and lead area operations, with a focus on the transitional nature of placements requiring continued and iterative attention

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in a youth work-related field such as Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Community Work or Child Protection
• Demonstrated, in-depth understanding of quality systems in a residential youth service, gained through significant quality services experience
• Leadership capability, with values-driven leadership aligned with the company's executive management
• Valid Queensland driver's licence; eligibility to live and work in Australia; willingness to undergo state-specific checks including working with children clearance

Required skills

• Experience and competency using the MS Office suite, with the ability to learn other programs
• Ability to commit heavily to the operational planning required by the role
