APS6 Technical Advisory Officer (Disability)

About the role

Randstad is recruiting, on behalf of a prominent Federal Government client in the disability sector, an APS6 Technical Advisory Coordinator. The role sits in the Technical Advisory Branch of the Operations and Support Division and provides high-quality clinical and technical advice on complex and novel cases, aligned with legislation and policy. It is advertised as a full-time contract at $60.26 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide subject-matter expertise using a coaching and mentoring approach to advise on the participant supports required, keeping accurate written and telephone records of advice given.
• Liaise with stakeholders, delegates and providers so that decision-making and outcomes are consistent.
• Manage sensitive and complex conversations around funding approvals, handling multiple tasks with good prioritisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Carry out research and analysis to decide on complex or escalated issues.
• Run risk management activities and monitor emerging issues within your area of responsibility.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in a related allied health field such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, psychology, social work or nursing; AHPRA registration is essential.
• Demonstrated clinical experience and the ability to give high-quality health and allied health technical advice at individual and systemic levels.
• Proven experience in the disability, hospital or aged care sectors.
• Experience mentoring and guiding staff so that advisory practice is consistent.
• Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and adapt to changing priorities under pressure.
• Australian citizenship is required.
