ANUM - Residential Withdrawal Unit

About the role

Depaul House, a 12-bed community residential alcohol and drug withdrawal unit in Fitzroy, Melbourne, is looking for an ANUM to lead the nursing team on a 24-hour roster. The unit provides medically managed detoxification for clients with significant substance use issues and related comorbidities, and is part of St Vincent's Department of Addiction Medicine. The ANUM coordinates and manages the shift, providing clinical leadership to nursing staff and ensuring high-quality, consumer-focused care. Night shifts are required.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the shift, providing clinical leadership to nursing staff
• Monitor physical withdrawal and respond with protocol medication
• Lead by example, allocate resources and liaise with consumers, carers and community service providers
• Work within the Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, formulate and implement treatment plans and support intake
• Deliver and coordinate group-based programs and activities
• Maintain documentation in line with hospital policy and contribute to quality improvement and policy development

Required profile

• Certificate, diploma or degree in General Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing registered with AHPRA (Division 1 or 3)
• Current practicing certificate (AHPRA registration)
• Post-registration qualification in AOD and/or mental health, or equivalent overseas qualification
• Valid criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one
• At least three years of post-qualification experience in drug and alcohol or mental health
• Good working knowledge of AOD legislation and the Mental Health Act 2014
