Animal Management Officer – 3 Month Contract

About the role

An exciting 3‑month contract opportunity for an experienced Animal Management Officer to join a high‑performing local government compliance team in Melbourne’s West. You will deliver frontline animal management services, respond to community requests and investigate complaints.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to community enquiries, complaints and dog‑attack incidents.
• Conduct proactive patrols and educate residents on responsible pet ownership.
• Enforce relevant animal‑related legislation and local laws.
• Impound, handle and care for animals in a variety of situations.
• Prepare prosecution briefs where required and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with the wider Local Laws team to improve community safety and amenity.

Required profile

• Experience in Animal Management, Local Laws or a similar regulatory compliance environment.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and investigation procedures.
• Excellent conflict‑resolution and customer‑service abilities.
• Confidence handling domestic animals in diverse scenarios.
• Current Victorian driver licence, police check and Working with Children check.
• Certificate IV in Animal Control & Regulation, Statutory Compliance, or equivalent experience (highly regarded).
