Analytical Laboratory Technician

About the role

MCCORMICK is looking for a resourceful, detail- and safety-oriented laboratory technician to join its Palmwoods R&D team. You will support the chemical and physical testing programme in the analytical chemistry laboratory, reporting to the Senior Analytical Technologist. The role covers routine analytical testing and instrument maintenance, and contributes to method development, including experimental design, method drafting and data analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform chemical and physical testing on fresh herbs and spices, raw materials, finished goods and agronomy research samples.
• Run product development tests such as moisture, texture, viscometry and wet chemistry to support new product development projects.
• Provide analytical support to cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Quality, Agronomy and Manufacturing.
• Report analytical data, raise non-conformances and give technical advice.
• Suggest improvements to laboratory methods, equipment, workflows and capability.
• Help with daily lab operations: calibration, reagent preparation, preventative maintenance, cleanliness and resource management.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
• Proactive, safety-focused mindset and passion for analytical chemistry.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and clear, professional communication.
• Enjoys collaboration across departments in a high-performing R&D environment.

Required skills

• Familiarity with GC-MS, HPLC-UV/Vis-FLD and automated titrators (advantageous).
• Experience supporting the development of analytical chemistry methods (advantageous).
