About the role
The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking enthusiastic doctors to commence Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine in February 2027. Trainees will join the largest inpatient medical unit in Tasmania, working across multiple acute medical teams and subspecialty rotations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care for 60‑90 patients daily, admitting 15‑20 new cases across five acute medical teams, including the Rapid Assessment Medical Unit and Emergency Department team.
- Complete six‑month subspecialty rotations in Respiratory, Nephrology, Stroke/Neurology, Cardiology and Gastroenterology.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, teaching sessions and quality‑improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to hospital protocols.
Required profile
- Medical graduate eligible for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine.
- Passion for delivering high‑quality patient care and commitment to a 2027 start date.
- Willingness to work full‑time or part‑time (0.5 FTE) in an onsite hospital environment.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
Required skills

- Salary range $134,930 – $189,005 per annum (Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022).
