Accounts Assistant (AP/AR) - Thomastown

About the role

A well-established, growing global supply chain business based in Thomastown is looking for an Accounts Assistant to report to the financial controller. The role covers high-volume accounts payable and receivable work, with a permanent full-time position on site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high-volume accounts payable processing, reviewing, validating and recording invoices accurately.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, working with branches to meet processing deadlines.
• Assist with payment runs and match invoices before payment.
• Perform bank allocations and account reconciliations to keep customer records accurate.
• Review and verify automated receipting and banking transactions.
• Support collections by following up outstanding accounts and helping with aged debtor reporting.
• Identify ways to streamline processes and improve efficiency, and keep digital records organised and up to date.

Required profile

• Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or a similar all-round accounts role.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end AP/AR processes, reconciliations and accounting fundamentals.
• Attention to detail and ability to spot and resolve discrepancies proactively.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a high-volume environment.
• Proactive, accuracy-focused, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
