Accounts and Payroll Officer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accounts and Payroll Officer to join our growing finance team in either Townsville or Cairns. In this diverse role you will support day‑to‑day finance operations, payroll processing and general business administration while working closely with the finance team and the local workshop.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations, journal entries and general ledger assistance.
• Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring timely data entry and reconciliation.
• Handle Accounts Receivable duties and collaborate with the Accounts Payable Officer.
• Manage supplier and customer records, including onboarding and data maintenance.
• Provide payroll administration support, data entry and processing, and act as a backup to the Payroll Officer.
• Process purchase orders, administer supplier information and assist with job costing.
• Deliver general administrative support to the finance team and the Townsville workshop.

Required profile

• Organised, proactive and comfortable working across finance and administration.
• Demonstrated experience as a Bookkeeper, Finance Officer or similar role.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, bank reconciliations, journals and general ledger functions.
• Experience with both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
