Accounting Intern - Melbourne (Part Time, 12 Weeks)

About the role

A well-established professional accounting and business advisory firm in Melbourne is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Intern. This is a self-funded, 12-week professional internship of 3 days per week, open to international students and recent graduates. It offers exposure to accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, payroll and business advisory, with mentorship from experienced accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting tasks
• Support the preparation of financial statements and working papers
• Perform bank and account reconciliations
• Assist with BAS, GST and taxation administration
• Support payroll processing and financial reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records and client documentation
• Assist senior accountants with client projects and business advisory work
• Perform accurate data entry and provide general administrative support when needed

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
• Strong analytical and numerical skills and high attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal English
• Eager to learn, able to work independently and within a team

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Knowledge of Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks is advantageous
