Accountant

About the role

BOS Civil, a civil construction business providing turn-key project management support to local government and private sector clients, is looking for an Accountant. The role maintains accurate financial records, ensures compliance with accounting standards and supports the Financial Controller in delivering timely and insightful financial reporting. It suits a proactive finance professional in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare tax and finance statements, complete commission reports and depreciation charts with adjustments, and populate and finalise BAS returns
• Prepare job costing reports for the Financial Controller, close monthly accounts, reconcile bank accounts and generate monthly financial reports
• Ensure compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements, liaising with the ATO and other regulators when needed
• Update cashflow spreadsheets, reconcile balance sheet schedules and investigate actual versus budget variances
• Populate payroll tax and workcover templates, maintain the Quality Assurance System and suggest improvements
• Analyse accounting records and financial statements for accuracy, completeness and conformance with standards

Required profile

• Bachelor degree or higher qualification; relevant experience may also be required
• Licence or registration may be required for the occupation
• Desirable: experience in Australia's mining, construction or infrastructure sectors

Required skills

• Desirable: strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation regulations
• Desirable: accounting software such as MYOB or Xero and Microsoft Excel
• Desirable: financial forecasting, budgeting and reporting

What we offer

• Salary of $80,000 - $90,000
