Accountant

About the role

McDermott Aviation, a privately owned Australian aviation services company, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its Finance team. This is a hands-on role supporting financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day accounting across a growing business, working closely with the CFO and wider leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Maintain the general ledger and carry out reconciliations
• Carry out month-end and year-end reporting
• Handle budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Manage fixed asset and inventory accounting
• Provide financial analysis and performance reporting
• Support internal and external audit requirements
• Maintain financial controls and compliance
• Identify improvements to systems and processes, support managers financially and help with ad hoc projects

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards it)
• At least 3 years of accounting experience
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant with strong technical skills and a practical, hands-on approach

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems
• Analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail
• Communication, stakeholder management and deadline management
