Accountant - Gas Contract Support

About the role

An experienced Accountant is sought to join Service Stream's finance team supporting a major gas contract in Victoria. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will deliver accurate financial reporting, analysis and accounting support to a small finance team. The role is based at the Clayton office with a hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, and includes maternity leave cover until February 2028.

Key responsibilities

• Use finance systems to process transactions, month-end journals, reconciliations and reporting, ensuring data accuracy
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and liaise with divisional finance teams
• Review and check payroll journals
• Support non-standard customer and third-party billing preparation
• Perform monthly balance sheet and suspense account reconciliations
• Prepare weekly and monthly reporting packs on time
• Support external audits, including audit pack preparation
• Assist with monthly forecasting and cash flow modelling, and conduct overhead analysis
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and management reporting, and improve reporting processes
• Partner with operational and project delivery teams, and support internal and external audit requests

Required profile

• Australia citizenship or permanent residency
• Minimum 2 years' accounting experience in a medium to large organisation
• Mandatory SAP experience in a finance and accounting environment
• Desirable: degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline, CPA or CA qualification (or nearing completion)
