Accountant – Business Services (North Queensland)

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to join a reputable, locally‑owned accounting and advisory firm in North Queensland. The role offers the chance to work with a diverse client base, from start‑ups to established organisations, while receiving strong mentorship and opportunities for technical growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior Partners in delivering high‑quality tax compliance and client advisory services.
• Prepare income tax returns, financial statements, Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing hands‑on service and professional insight.
• Build and maintain lasting client relationships through proactive communication.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification – Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or Bachelor of Commerce.
• Previous experience in a tax accountant role.
• CA or CPA qualification, or actively pursuing it.
• Self‑starter with a detail‑oriented, proactive approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Critical thinker who challenges assumptions and solves problems.
• Comfortable with new technology and strong IT aptitude.
• Eagerness to learn and take ownership of professional development.
