24/7 Data Centre Technician

About the role

Datacom is hiring a 24/7 Data Centre Technician for its AirTrunk Data Centre in Huntingwood Drive, Sydney. You will support the critical infrastructure powering some of Australia's leading organisations, working with servers, networks, cabling and telecommunications equipment. No previous data centre experience is required, as training, support and development are provided. The position is permanent and full-time, with a rotating day and night shift roster.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support for Datacom's data centre customers.
• Install and maintain servers, network equipment, telecommunications hardware and cabling.
• Perform "remote hands" support activities on behalf of customers.
• Monitor systems, alerts and operational processes, escalating issues where required.
• Support data centre operations, asset management and change activities.
• Assist with incident response and service restoration.
• Build relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, follow security, safety and operational procedures, and identify process improvements.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in technology and how IT infrastructure works.
• Australian citizenship, as applicants must be citizens due to security requirements.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern of up to 12 hours on site.
• Comfortable working at heights of up to 4 metres and handling cabling or equipment installation.
• Previous IT experience is preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft application suite.
