2027 PGY2 Hospital Medical Officer

About the role

Bayside Health (Peninsula Care Group) is offering a fixed-term, full-time Hospital Medical Officer (PGY2) position of 76 hours per fortnight, based at Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals. The placement is designed to give junior doctors exposure and experience to consolidate their PGY1 learning and build the skills needed for specialist training. It is part of the National Fellowship of Postgraduate Medical Training (NFPMT).

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective, appropriate medical care under the direction of more experienced medical staff, primarily registrars, and in line with delegated clinical privileges that vary by site.
• Complete a series of rotations including Emergency, General Medicine, Paediatrics, O&G, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Cardiology, ICU, Anaesthetics, Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Choose rotations in areas of interest and be assigned a relieving term that includes annual leave and leave cover.
• Complete mandatory assessments with a term supervisor, primary supervisor and day-to-day supervisor; the PGY2 certificate is awarded after 4 successful rotations.

Required profile

• Hold General Medical Registration with AHPRA by February 2027.
• Satisfactory completion of a recognised Intern program (PGY1).
• Eligibility criteria for the NFPMT.
• Ability to work across Peninsula Care Group sites as service needs require.
