Deputy Head of Social Work

About the role

Bayside Health, a public health service covering metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Koo Wee Rup, Bass Coast and Southern Gippsland, is recruiting a Deputy Head of Social Work in Frankston. The position is permanent full time (80 hours per fortnight) and sits within the Social Worker Grade 4 classification (years 1 to 4). You will lead a dedicated team of Social Workers delivering care across acute, sub-acute and palliative care settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on complex psychosocial matters
• Support and develop staff
• Drive service improvements and contribute to the day-to-day leadership of the Social Work Department
• Influence clinical excellence and lead innovative practice

Required profile

• Member, or eligible for membership, of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Extensive experience in health social work
• Demonstrated senior clinical experience and experience leading social work health professionals
• High level of experience in the disability sector
• Significant knowledge of Family Violence, NDIS and VCAT

Required skills

• Knowledge of current standards of practice for health social workers and supporting education, competency and workforce frameworks
• Proficiency in psychosocial assessment, intervention, counselling, case management and discharge planning
• Application of social work theory to practice
• Leading proactive, constructive, safe and creative approaches to problem solving
