Xero-Certified AU Bookkeeper (BAS & Tax Compliance)

About the role

Our client, a newly incorporated financial services startup in Melbourne, is seeking a Xero‑Certified Australian Bookkeeper to take full ownership of its accounting operations during a rapid early‑stage growth phase. You will work directly with company leadership to build clean financial systems, ensure BAS and tax compliance, and manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping in Xero.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, lodge and reconcile Business Activity Statements (BAS) accurately and on time.
• Compile and file company tax returns in line with Australian regulations.
• Submit GST payments, maintain GST records and manage invoicing and accounts receivable.
• Reconcile payments, accounts and perform general bookkeeping tasks in Xero.
• Back‑date financial records for the company’s initial trading period and keep organized records.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing and submitting BAS for Australian entities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian tax returns and GST compliance.
• Xero certification (Level 1 or Level 2) and strong bookkeeping background.
• University education in accounting or a related field.
• Excellent English communication and ability to work independently.
