Writing Assistant for YouTube Edutainment Channel

About the role

Join Spawnpoint Media as a Writing Assistant for the Make Waves YouTube channel, creating safe and engaging edutainment content for 8‑12 year olds. You will work within a talented creative team to develop compelling scripts that inspire and entertain.

Key responsibilities

• Storyboard and skeleton planning: create synopses and structure scripts for pre‑production review.
• Write weekly scripts following screenplay and internal formatting SOPs.
• Collaborate with production teams through frequent check‑ins, feedback and coordination.
• Research YouTube trends, pop culture and social media to generate fresh ideas.
• Analyze metrics such as views, AVD, CTR and impressions to inform future scripting.
• Prepare and present scripts clearly for colleagues and supervisors.
• Participate in post‑mortems to identify successful patterns and improve future content.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years experience on YouTube (desirable) and at least 6 months scriptwriting experience.
• Based in Melbourne (or remote for the right candidate) with strong deadline management.
• Proactive communicator able to incorporate feedback and work within SOPs.
• Passionate consumer of diverse media content and fast learner.

Required skills

• Proficiency in traditional screenplay formatting.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code and Gemini.
