Workshop Fitter - Afternoon Shift

About the role

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) is looking for a trade-qualified Workshop Fitter to join its afternoon shift team in Wacol, Brisbane. You will work in the Reman workshop, where you overhaul, assemble, maintain and repair major components to OEM standards on a wide range of Hitachi and associated equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform major component rebuilds and overhauls on a wide range of machinery components
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in line with OEM standards
• Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently
• Complete service reports and related documentation accurately
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workplace following 5S principles
• Work with the wider remanufacturing team to meet production targets

Required profile

• Ideal candidate holds a relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills
• Commitment to high-quality workmanship and safety standards
• Good communication skills and teamwork ability
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Previous experience on heavy earthmoving, mining or construction equipment is advantageous

Required skills

• Forklift licence, dogging ticket, working at heights licence or other high-risk work licences (highly regarded)
• Ability to read and follow OEM standards
