Workshop Fabrication Supervisor

About the role

JLE Group is seeking an experienced Workshop Fabrication Supervisor for its Manufacturing & Hire division, based in Newcastle. The supervisor leads fabrication work safely, efficiently and profitably, covering structural steel, skids, switch room structures, mechanical assemblies, transport frames, equipment supports, mining infrastructure and manufactured products. The role links Engineering, Project Delivery Teams, Workshop Management and fabrication personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the fabrication team to complete projects on time
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and Australian Standards
• Mentor apprentices and emerging tradespersons and promote accountability and discipline
• Plan and schedule fabrication tasks, review priorities with Workshop Management and assist with capacity planning and labour forecasting
• Reduce rework through quality assurance, maintain fabrication records and traceability, and monitor daily output and labour productivity against budget
• Keep equipment serviceable and compliant, support monthly operational reporting and project reviews

Required profile

• Welding & fabrication qualification
• Current Electrical Licence and Construction White Card
• Demonstrated workshop or manufacturing supervisory experience
• Strong understanding of electrical manufacturing and installation, ability to read drawings and technical documentation
• Leadership and people management skills
• Desirable: Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, project management qualifications, high-risk work licences and First Aid certification

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Electrical manufacturing and installation knowledge
