Weekend Social Visitor Volunteer

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing aged care services on the Central Coast, is recruiting weekend volunteers to act as social visitors at its residential care homes in Erina or Woy Woy. You will spend time one-on-one or in small groups with older people, sharing a hobby, activity or just a chat over coffee. The program is funded by the Australian Government under the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one-hour visits to residents, either alone or in small groups, to create genuine connection and lift their mood.
• Share your interests such as sports, art, gardening, pets, baking, yoga, music, movies or conversation.
• Visit on weekends between 9:30am and 12:00pm or 1:00pm and 4:00pm, or on weekdays between 9:00am and 4:00pm, depending on availability.
• Meet the interview and orientation requirements on a weekday during business hours.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• An NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Commitment of one hour per week for a minimum of 6 months; visits can be weekly or fortnightly.

Interested applicants are contacted by phone or text, then by email if needed, and more information is available on the HammondCare website.
