Water Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

The Federation Council is seeking a dedicated Water Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain its water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pumping stations, ensuring high‑quality drinking water for local communities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, maintain and repair water treatment facilities in line with Council standards and Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
• Undertake operational testing, keep detailed records, and ensure compliance with NSW Health & Environment regulations.
• Maintain site cleanliness, security and assist with water/sewerage reticulation repairs as directed.
• Follow WHS protocols, Safe Work Method Statements and proper PPE usage.
• Participate in on‑call roster and overtime to cover after‑hours, weekend and public holiday needs.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment (Drinking Water) or equivalent.
• Current Class C driver’s licence.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Confined Spaces Entry accreditation.
• NSW Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies accreditation (or ability to obtain during probation).
• Demonstrated knowledge of water treatment plant operations, maintenance and WHS practices.
