Veterinary Nurse – Surgery

About the role

The Veterinary Nurse (Surgery) provides high‑quality nursing care to animals at the Animal Hospital of Murdoch University, supporting a specialist small‑animal surgery referral service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver all aspects of veterinary nursing care in line with Certificate IV standards and the Veterinary Surgeons Act of WA.
• Assist clinicians with examinations, diagnostics, procedures, treatments and surgeries, and coordinate equipment availability.
• Maintain compliance with university policies, TAHMU protocols and relevant veterinary legislation.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification registrable in Western Australia.
• Proven ability to handle and restrain small animals confidently.
• Experience with surgical procedures and patient care in a general practice setting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of diagnostic and surgical equipment.
• Proficiency in sterilising and aseptic techniques.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term 12‑month contract, part‑time or full‑time up to 37.5 hours per week.
• Salary $74,809 – $79,802 per year (pro‑rated) plus 17% superannuation and salary‑sacrifice options.
