Veterinary Nurse (Casual)

About the role

Harbour City Veterinary Surgery is seeking an experienced Veterinary Nurse for a casual role of approximately 30 hours per week. This position offers the chance to work in a busy small‑animal practice and may lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor anaesthesia and provide patient care during surgeries.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑operative nursing duties.
• Collect and process blood and urine samples using IDEXX equipment.
• Assist with dental procedures and radiology.
• Administer medications, manage admissions and discharges, and support cleaning and reception tasks.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or a Veterinary Technology degree.
• Minimum 2 years of veterinary nursing experience.
• Strong surgical and anaesthesia nursing skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Positive attitude and willingness to mentor colleagues.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IDEXX diagnostic equipment.
• Experience in anaesthetic monitoring, sample processing, dental work, and radiology.
